Buy a Parking Permit

Permits for the Summer 2026 semester are now available. Permits may be purchased online or at the Parking office.

Fall semester permits are valid August 1st through December 31st. 

Spring semester permits are valid January 1st through May 31st.

Summer semester permits are valid from the first day of the semester through the last day of the semester.

What are the different types of permits?

  • Mines Park Resident permits- allow parking exclusively in Mines Park residential areas (identified on the campus parking map in green).
  • Blue permits- allow parking within all lots identified on the campus parking map in blue (including both parking garages), on-streets within the campus boundaries, and in Mines Park.
  • Lot K or Lot R permits- allow for parking only in the specific lot that they are assigned. 
  • Red Reserved permits- are only available to faculty and staff.

What type of permit can I buy?

  • Mines Park residents can only obtain a Mines Park Resident permit. Residents may be purchased online or at the Parking office. A permit that is valid in both Mines Park and the Blue lots/areas on campus may be offered. Mines Park residents interested in a Blue permit should add themselves to the permit waitlist online.
  • Greek Row residents can only obtain a Blue permit.
  • Commuting students can choose to purchase either a Blue parking permit or a Lot K permit if available. There are a limited number of Lot K permits. If none are available, you may add your name to the Lot K permit waitlist through your parking account. You will be notified when a permit becomes available.
  • Non-first-year Resident students will be allowed to purchase a permit when they go on sale. Resident permits will be valid in either Lot Q or Lot LA (currently identified as lots AA, A and F). Students living on campus may park their vehicles overnight in the areas where their permits are valid.
  • First-year Resident students are not allowed to purchase a permit unless permission is granted after submission of a waiver request. More parking information regarding the waiver process for first-year students can be found here.
  • 1750 Jackson students can purchase a Reserved parking permit for the garages under that building, while available. All 1750 Jackson residents will be included in a lottery and will be notified in mid-July if they are allowed to purchase a permit. If not selected in the lottery, they will be allowed to purchase a permit in Lot C (1600 Jackson).
  • Lookout Apartments students can purchase a Reserved parking permit for Lot LA (currently identified as lots A, AA and F). All Lookout Apartments residents will be notified via email in early- to mid-July with instructions for purchasing a permit.

How do I purchase a permit?

Parking permits may be purchased online or at the Parking office. Please follow the instructions and links below to purchase your permit.  If you have trouble making your purchase, please contact Parking Services for assistance.

  1. Review the Mines Parking Policy. All students are expected to know and abide by the Parking Policy.
  2. Follow this link to log in to your parking portal using your single sign on password.
  3. Once logged in, select “GET PERMITS”
  4. Choose which permit you would like to purchase.
  5. Select which vehicles will be utilizing the permit. Only one vehicle is allowed on campus at a time.
  6. Verify that all license plate information is correct as permitting is enforced via license plate recognition.
  7. After making your permit selection, the system will prompt you to checkout. Choose your desired form of payment from the drop down menu (e.g. “Visa”) then press “Pay Now” to complete the transaction. Do not add or purchase more than one permit.
  8. Once the checkout process has been completed a verification receipt will be emailed. This confirms your purchase and no further action needs to be taken.
  9. All permits are virtual, no decals will be issued, nor does anything need to be displayed in the windshield.

First Year Students

Living on Campus

Due to the limited availability of parking, first-year students living on campus are typically not permitted to purchase parking permits unless they have certain, specific needs to have a car on campus. Upon submission of a Parking Waiver Request Form, a committee will review your request. If it meets the criteria outlined on the form, you will be allowed to purchase a Resident Reserved parking permit. Parking Waiver Request Forms will not be reviewed until mid-June, prior to the start of the fall semester. They may, however, be submitted at any time during the student’s first year.

Other transportation options available to all students include the free Ore Cart Shuttle Service, Zip Car rental, and an RTD CollegePass, which provides Denver regional transportation by bus and light rail.

Living off Campus

First-year students living off campus can purchase a parking permit by providing proof of a waiver of the on-campus housing requirement. Contact Parking Services directly to purchase a permit on this exception basis.

Summer School

Enrolled over the Summer?

If you’re taking classes in the summer, or beginning your campus career during the summer months, a permit is required to park your vehicle on campus. Parking permits are sold on a semester basis. Summer semester permits expire July 31st. To purchase a campus permit, follow the instructions listed above or contact the Parking office.

If you are a non-Mines student and need a parking permit for the summer, please come to the Parking Services office to purchase a permit.

Permits for the fall semester are valid Aug. 1st through Dec. 31st. Sale dates are announced in early July.
